Oxford Chapel Choirs

Here’s our list of the main chapel choirs of Oxford.

Each has a link to their choir/chapel websites, which you can click to connect.
When you get to the chapel webpage, look for the ‘Music List’ or ‘Termcard’.
This gives you the music being sung and the service times.

CHRISTCHURCH COLLEGE
Also acts as Oxford’s cathedral. One of the best three choirs in Oxford. Top standard in a magnificent setting.

MAGDALEN COLLEGE
Beautiful, small chapel. Very dynamic leadership and exciting sound, Ambitious, varied repertoire and well worth hearing.

QUEENS COLLEGE
Eighteenth century chapel, amazingly light, with mixed choir. Often performing Portuguese and Spanish composers which is a particular speciality.

NEW COLLEGE
Again, a very high standard of singing, playing and conducting. Eclectic range of music choices, from the 16th century through to newly commissioned works.

MERTON COLLEGE
Features more than one choir ensemble, depending on the day. Big, vibrant sound in a chapel which has a famously resonant acoustic.

KEBLE COLLEGE
Fabulous chapel with Pre Raphaelite/Arts and Crafts décor. A good mixed choir with quite a number of singers in each part. Again, they fill an amazing acoustic.

SIDNEY SUSSEX COLLEGE
Here, the Choir has honed a specialism in Renaissance music.

SOMERVILLE COLLEGE
Interestingly a non-denominational college which offers a Sunday ‘meditation’ with readings and music.
